The Bridge learning hub is a new facility that helps develop people with specialist skills and knowledge that they need for further education and work. The project is part of the overall Dumfries Learning Town Project. The building contains a range of specialist facilities that give the learners experiences that enable and enhance the transition from school to advanced study and the workplace. These facilities are unique and give learners the opportunity to apply knowledge in professional environments. These include a professional kitchen, theatre and film, a lecture hall, a design and engineering hub, recording studios and a professional laboratory.
- The Bridge delivers learning opportunities for the whole community with the facility open and available to individuals, community groups, clubs and local organisations.
- Electrical services included switchgear and sub mains cabling, general purpose & emergency lighting, lighting controls, external lighting, general purpose power, fire alarm, disabled refuge alarm, structured cabling, intruder alarm, disabled toilet alarm, CCTV, access control, PA System, PV renewables, TV distribution, mechanical wiring and Test & commissioning.
- Mechanical services included mechanical cooling, ventilation, LTHW heating installation, smoke ventilation, plumbing, sanitary ware, sprinkler installation, Biomass installation, soils & wastes, above ground drainage, external gas and mains water and test & commissioning.
- As part of the project we installed a bespoke containerised biomass boiler system with 2 no 300KW Biomass boilers and 2 no Integral wood pellet fuel stores. The cabin was fully insulated and constructed in Scottish Larch Cladding. The system also has a fully integrated BMS control system.
